Visendo Mail Checker Server
Protection against Viruses, Trojan Horses and SPAM
With Visendo Mail Checker Server we present an e-mail solution for protecting you
against viruses, Trojan horses and primarily SPAM. It is based on the very successful
tool popConnect Plus. SPAM detection and destruction is one of the new main features.
Mail Checker Server is located between the internet and your in-house mail server.
You also can run it without any security concerns on your Exchange Server.
The mail traffic is filtered by different multi-stage processes. Beginning with
the method “Black/Whitelist” mails can be deleted at a very early stage on the basis
of nothing but the sender. This is supported by a self learning function of the
Mail Checker. Mail Checkers creates digital finger prints of suspicious or certain
spam. In cooperation with the Spam Public Server of ppedv, rife spam mails soon
are identified.
Particular attention is payed to mail attachments and content. Even though modern
Outlook versions help to take such measures, a double filter is much safer. Often
alternative mail clients without any defence are in use.
As well as popConnect, Visendo Mail Checker can retrieve IMAP and POP3 accounts.
Even the corresponding SPOP and SIMAP versions are supported. In addition, the server
also acts as SMTP gateway/firewall and can check incoming as well as outgoing SMTP
traffic.
Visendo Mail Checker is administrated remote or local with the MMC. The server runs
as service under Windows NT, 2000, XP or Windows 2003. All small business servers
(SBS) are supported.
Management-Console
Accounts (Source)
Define here which POP3 or IMAP4 accounts you want to retrieve.
SMTP (Target)
Define here the SMTP addresses where you want to send the e-mails to.
 Advanced Settings
Define here special parser settings, time-controlled e-mail retrieval and logging
of processed e-mails.
Filter Settings
The most important filter is the learning filter (Bayes algorithm) which can identify
and catch SPAM mails based on mails already specified as SPAM.
Connection-Test
Admin-Tools include useful functions to check the functionality of your POP3/IMAP
resp. SMTP server.
Outlook-Plugin
You train the learning filter by using the additional buttons in Outlook.
